The San Roque Town Hall and “El Consejo Local y Sacramental de Hermandades y Cofradías de San Roque” inform about the decision of the Bishop of Cadiz and Ceuta to suspend all religious ceremonies in general and the Easter 2021 processions, in particular, thus avoiding the consequent risks derived from the crowding of people. This decision will remain in force as long as the current circumstances remain unchanged during the coronavirus pandemic and the opposite is not decreed.
Both the Mayor of the City, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, and the President of the “El Consejo Local y Sacramental de Hermandades y Cofradías de San Roque”, Juan Angulo, have been made aware of this decision taken by the Bishop itself for the whole diocese.
Ruiz Boix clarified that not only are the 2021 processions suspended, but also any religious ceremonies on the public highway. This situation will remain,” said the mayor, “unless the Bishop issues another decree authorising ceremonies provided that there is an improvement in the incidence of contagion during the pandemic.
