Andalusia is approaching “extreme risk”-level for Covid again so restrictions could increase

This Sunday, the number of people hospitalised by Covid in Andalusian hospitals amounted to 1,333, – 22 less than the day before, which is a drop for the second day in a row after eight days of rising, although the region has 176 more than last Sunday, and has 299 patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), seven more than on Saturday and 20 more than seven days ago.

In Andalusia the rate of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants at 14 days now exceeds 201.82, compared to 180 cases on Thursday – which represents a 12% growth – and almost double what the region recorded at the trough of the third wave, in mid-March 2021. Thus, the autonomous community is dangerously close to 250 cases, when it would be considered ‘extreme risk’, which would entail the application of a series of restrictions that would affect mobility, capacity and the closure of activities, among other aspects.

In terms of vaccinations, this week Cadiz remains the third largest in the Andalusian community in terms of the number of people vaccinated, with 213,995 doses already administered, of which 71,661 people have already been fully vaccinated.
