Confirmed: ‘Gran Marina del Estrecho’, the project that will attract cruise ships and mega-yachts to La Línea

La Línea will have one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean by 2023, as on 14 May the contract was finally signed for the start of the ‘Gran Marina del Estrecho’ maritime works, the project that will allow this city to attract mega yachts and cruise ships, which will undoubtedly be a real boost for the creation of wealth in the area.

In a statement the manager of this project explained that the contract allowing the start of the construction was signed on 14 May and that soon everything would be ready for the works to be carried out within 24 months.

    The project

Gran Marina del Estrecho has more than 11,000 square metres built for commercial uses and premium services complementary to the nautical activity. A wide range of shops, nautical and maritime equipment, food, accessories and offices are planned, as well as premises available for high standing hotels, with terraces with excellent views over the Bay of Algeciras and Gibraltar, which can already be booked through a contact form.

The investment exceeds 50 million euros and the new megayacht marina will have 80 moorings of between 30 and 100 metres in length and 2 moorings for cruise ships, distributed in two different docks. “We are also talking about floating mini-hotels that are looking for different ports”, says Juan Ignacio Jiménez-Casquet, who emphasises that the project will generate 40 direct jobs and 300 indirect jobs.
