Pedro Sanchez stressed that this was a very important announcement for all Spaniards, which comes on top of the good pace of vaccinations. “Our streets, our people, our faces, will begin to recover their normal appearance in the coming days”, he added, before stressing that “the joy of life of Spanish society is the joy of life of its representatives in public institutions, starting with the Government”. (the editor says: 😀 )
With this measure, he pointed out that people will once again be able to enjoy life in the street without masks, and he paid tribute to all Spaniards who have been disciplined and to the work of health professionals.
He explained that the elimination of the mandatory use of masks in open-air spaces is possible because all the objectives that had been set have been “scrupulously” fulfilled.
“This will be the last weekend with masks outdoors because on 26th of June we will no longer wear them in open spaces,” he said.
What a coincidence that this date also marks the beginning of the holiday season in Spain. And rumours about a so-called “survey” which allegedly revealed Andalusians would prefer to continue using the masks raise the suspicion that they could return in autumn, when the tourists are back home.
