The mayor of Los Barrios, Miguel Alconchel, has positively assessed the statements of the vice-president of the Andalusian Government in which he assesses the possible opening of the commercial areas, such as that of Palmones.
In spite of this, the mayor believes that “this measure or approach should have been taken three days earlier and would have saved the business owners of the Palmones business park and the gastronomic centre a lot of suffering and anxiety”, said Alconchel.
“The perimeter closure between municipalities has led to the closure of many companies and establishments, hopefully temporarily and not permanently,” he explained. Therefore, Alconchel warns that “if it is prolonged in time we are probably leading to the closure of many companies and establishments and the loss of many jobs”.
“In times of crisis, we politicians have to innovate and take different decisions to solve problems and not to make them worse, as is the case with the economic issue.
The health crisis is being harmful enough to make the economic crisis worse,” he concludes.
“We are going in the right direction and we hope that this week will be positive and that from the 10th we will be able to take other decisions to make other sectors that are restricted also work more flexibly in view of Christmas”, he added.
